An Official Delegation of the Regione Puglia visited Chicago
between December 15 and December 21, 1998, for the celebration of the
Pugliese Christmas organized by ARPA.
The delegation had been organized by the Association C.A.L.P.E.-U.N.A.I.E
(Center for the Support of Pugliesi Workers Abroad) of Bari.
The delegation was composed of the following people:
- Dott.ssa Anna De Palma, Director of Migratory Policies for the Puglia Region
- Dr. Angelo DiSumma, Director responsible for the magazine "New Puglia Emigration"
- Dr. Enzo Pisicchio, Responsible Organizer of CALPE-UNAIE
- Dr. Domenico Bellomo, CALPE-UNAIE
- Mons. Riccardo Zingaro
A welcoming reception sponsored by ARPA was held on Friday evening,
December 18, 1998, at Biagio Banquets in Chicago. The event allowed
the delegation to meet face-to-face with members of the
Pugliese community in Chicagoland and to exchange information
on inter-relations between the Puglia Region end its citizens abroad.
The meeting included a buffet-dinner, various ceremonies, and a
feedback session for the delegation to collect suggestions
and comments from participants.
There were various presentations and several ARPA members
were honored by the Delegation for ARPA's support
and promotion of the Pugliese culture.
Sunday, December 20, the Delegation joined with the rest of the
Pugliese community in Chicagoland for the 12th anniversary
celebration by ARPA of
the Living Manger and Christmas Holiday, a Pugliese Christmas.
