ARPA held its 12th Christmas celebration on Sunday, December 20, 1998. The celebration started at noon with a Holy Mass at San Ferdinand Church in Chicago, and continued at Manzo Banquets in nearby Des Plaines with a dinner starting at 3:30 p.m., followed by speeches, presentations, entertainment, and dancing late in the evening.

The mass was celebrated by Mons. Riccardo Zingaro, special guest and member of the Delegation from Regione Puglia on visit in Chicago. The Live Manger, a tradition of ARPA, participated with a short play of Joseph and Mary's travel to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus. The mass, in Italian, was attended by the visiting delegation, ARPA's officers, and about 400 people, mostly Pugliesi from the Chicago area.

The evening celebrations included dinner, entertainment, and dancing, mixed with a number of speeches, presentations and a visit from Santa Claus. ARPA gave "remember-Chicago" tokens to members of the visiting delegation to commemorate the occasion. The delegation, in turn, bestowed plaques and medals to recognize the special efforts of ARPA's officers such as Joe DeBenedictis and Pat Capriati. A special recognition went to Mr. Pasquale Caputo, a local businessman with origins from Puglia, who has provided outstanding support to the ARPA organization. A special homage was also paid to a group of young Italian-Americans, including Miss Puglia, that forms the ARPA Giovanile.
